Pretending to be Perfect

Why do we as women often pretend to be perfect? I believe that we pretend to be perfect because we measure ourselves with other people. When we do this, we will always feel inadequate or like we have to be and/or act a certain way. When we put more emphasis on our friends, acquaintances or worldly standards we will always deny the truth and live in false world just to fit in. Last night in my weekly seminary wives class, the question was asked how many times during prayer request does a women (you and me) ever just ask for prayer for something that they are going through. Many times during prayer request, we ask prayer for everybody else but rarely do we ask prayer for our own trials and tribulations. Why then are we afraid to ask for prayer? Could it be that people will find out that we are not perfect? We need to stop pretending to be perfect for man and realize that we can only be perfect in God and with God. Psalms 18:30 tells us “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” We should however strive daily for perfection which means to live right and to do and say what is right. We should obey Romans 12:2 which says “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind , that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God”.
If you are having problems don’t be afraid to ask Godly person/persons for prayer. I guarantee everybody has or will have some kind of trial or tribulation some more severe than others but we will have a struggle on this earth. Face your problems head on and give them to God. Everything that you’re dealing with instead of pretending they don’t exist or whining and complaining turn them into prayer request. We don’t have to pretend to be perfect just to fit in or please others. Be honest with yourself and you can find peace in an all perfect God.
Nobody can be perfect unless he admits his faults,
But if he has faults how can he be perfect? Author Unknown
