Mobile Interuptions

In today's world of technology we are well connected. With cell phones and PDAs we are just one click away from conversing or keeping up with the goings of the world. We have become so consummed with our mobile devices that we don't realize how they are an interutption to the many important people and/or things in our lives. Many of us sit on ready, that is we have our phone in hand or we are plugged up with the little ear phones or bluetooths. We wake up with them and keep them by our side all day. I know we need our cell phones and they do come in handy. I use mine for my phonebook and appointments to keep me on track but I do draw the line. I'm always amazed when at restaurants how people will spend their dinner time on the phone with their guest just sitting waiting. I'm always amazed when I see grown men sit in church and get ESPN updates. Two Sundays ago a man sitting next to me watched his ESPN updates in the middle of communion. I'm always amazed how people sit up in church with bluetooths in their ear. I'm always amazed when the Pastor has to get up and beg people not to text in church. We even have a sign before you enter the sanctuary that says "No Texting Please" but it is obvious that people don't pay it any attention. Don't let the mobile interuptions prevent you from enjoying the company of your family and friends. Don't let the mobile interuptions prevent you from worshipping the Lord with all your heart mind and soul. Don't allow mobile interuptions make you make the wrong decision which could alter someone's life forever. The other day, my daughter Lauren said mom I thought you're not suppose to talk on the phone while driving and I said you are right. To which she replied, "well, why are you always dailing then?". Yes, I was guilty of teaching them right but showing them wrong. It can wait! I don't know what I would do if my cell phone usage caused an accident to hurt my family or the family of someone else and that should be enough to keep me off the phone while driving. Don't allow your cell phones, pdas and other devices consume your time and keep you from the people and things that are most important to you. "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiates 3:1.
