What Will Inspire You When Your Inspiration Fails?

This morning I set out for a four mile run and discovered my ipod batteries were run down. What do I do, should I continue with no inspirational music or do I charge my battery and go later? As I contemplated the answer I was quickly reminded of something I heard in a sermon on last night. The preacher told us just like the music from a guitar, harp or piano or the voice from a singer, choir or band makes us leap with joy and praise so should the word of GOD! After the reminder, I set out on my run. Now let me tell you that I just started working out again after a four week break on yesterday. So when I set out from the very beginning I wanted to quit but I kept running. After about twenty minutes, I just wanted to quit and probably every minute thereafter for the next remaining twenty minutes. I didn’t have my music to inspire and keep me going but I did have the word of God. So for every scripture that I could recall I just spent a little time talking to God. It is the word that reminds us of the promises that He has made to us. It is the word that reminds us to keep His statues (law). It was the word that inspired me to run to the end and not quit. Like David in Psalm 119:11, we must hide the word of God in our heart. When we do this no matter what obstacles come our way we can be assured that we are NEVER ALONE. We will always be prepared and armed if we have the word. We never know when our source of inspiration will fail us. Although for me this morning, it was my ipod containing inspirational music it could have been something worse. We have many sources of inspirations (other people, music, money, circumstances, etc) that may fail at us at any given moment but the Word of God will never fail! I believe also, that this is a reminder to us to use God’s word more as inspiration and to spend more time with Him in prayer and studying His word. We should also pray the prayer of David in Psalms 119:17 when he asks God to “Deal bountifully with Your servant. That I may live and keep Your word.” It is my prayer that we follow David's lead and Hide God's word in our hearts. Be Blessed, Benita
